Many have discovered the benefits of Massage Therapy here at Advanced Massage and Laser Therapy Clinic and we have many different choices available to suit all our clients need.
Massage Choices available
Swedish Massage - Designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation, this is done through the use of five basic strokes, all flowing towards the heart. With the application of oil the therapist will use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and taping movements. The many benefits of Swedish Massage may include relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling form injury.
Myofascial Release - The myofascial release approach is a form of soft tissue therapy through the use of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system.
Deep Tissue Massage - Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as the neck, shoulders and lower back. The therapist often uses direct pressure or friction across the grain of the muscles to physically break down adhesions to relieve pain and restore movement in that area.
Pregnancy Massage - Studies indicate that massage therapy during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve aches and pains and improve labour outcome. Swedish massage is the recommended method during pregnancy because it addresses discomforts associated with hormonal shifts. Many professionals consider the best position for massage during pregnancy is side-lying.
Sports Massage - Designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. Sports massage can be useful pre-event (on site with the athlete fully clothed to establish blood flow and to warm up the muscles), post-event (on site to calm the system and help begin the process of flushing toxins out of the body), and/or for injury treatment (off site to help speed recovery and improve quality of healing).
Stretching Massage - Useful to increase muscular range of motion and reduce pain. The therapist will stretch the clients muscles during the massage to counteract tension or contraction due to shortening caused by work or exercise. Once the contraction has been relaxed, normal circulation is restored and the muscles can rest.
Aromatherapy - Uses essential oils (extracted from plant material) to help relax the mind, improve the mood and increase the cognitive function of the the client.
Trigger Point - Targets knots and adhesions by applying pressure and forcing it to 'let go'. It is followed by strokes to increase circulation to flush toxins from the affected area.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is available and treats patients by inserting thin needles in the body, locating specific locations on or under the skin. It is a good way to promote good health, relieve pain and helps balance the mind, body and spirit.
